      Heed not the rain that drums through forest leaves; why not chant at ease and wander slowly on?

      With bamboo staff and straw sandals, I travel lighter than on horseback— who is afraid? Wrapped in a straw cape, I let a lifetime of mist and rain pass as it will.

      The biting spring wind clears the wine from my head— a slight chill. Yet the slanting sun beyond the hill comes forth to greet me.

      I look back at the place of wind and desolation, and turn for home— no storm, no clear sky.

      About Me

      I am Hua Chen. I received a PhD in physics from Central China Normal University in 2024; see my CV for details. I currently work independently as an IB and A-level physics teacher, software developer, and theoretical physics researcher.

      1. IB and A-level Physics Teaching

      I teach IB and A-level Physics, with particular emphasis on:

      1. Using rigorous derivations and visualisation to show how physical concepts are connected and where equations come from, so that students understand their meaning rather than merely memorising results.
      2. Organising teaching and revision around the syllabus and mark schemes, making the scope of each topic, common question formats, and expectations for written answers explicit.
      3. Building connections between chapters once individual ideas are secure, then using multi-topic problems to develop transfer and integrated analytical skills.

      2. Software Development

      I independently build tools and applications that address practical needs, using technologies such as JavaScript, Python, Rust, Tauri, and Astro. The programming section is divided into notes, where I record methods and reflections from learning and practice, and projects, where I document completed and ongoing work.

      3. Theoretical Physics Research

      I previously worked on modified gravity and cosmology, and I continue to follow research developments in these fields. My publication record is available on INSPIRE.

      About This Site

      PhysChen.com is a bilingual personal publication about physics, teaching, software development, everyday reflection, and photography. It is a long-term place for organising knowledge, documenting life, and developing ideas, with each subject able to stand on its own while remaining connected to the others.

      I built it because a personal website belongs more fully to its author than a social platform does; because there is a particular satisfaction in watching it take shape by hand; and because sustained writing and practice can gradually become a coherent body of thought. I am not naturally sociable, so I also hope this site can remain an open window for conversations and possible collaborations with readers from different backgrounds.

      What you will find here

      • Physics: study and research notes in theoretical physics, together with writing for general readers, especially on gravity, cosmology, and foundational concepts.
      • Teaching: IB and A-level Physics explanations, experiments and data analysis, problem-solving methods, and reflections on curriculum and learning.
      • Programming: technical notes and personal projects, including plugins, desktop applications, and other practical tools.
      • Essays: reflections on study, work, everyday experience, and personal growth.
      • Photography: observations of daily life, cities, travel, people, and passing moments preserved through images.

      How the content is organised

      • Articles are arranged by section, subject category, and tag. Connected pieces may also be gathered into series or book-like collections for sequential reading.
      • Chinese and English have parallel entry points. Where a corresponding translation exists, the language switcher takes you to the same content in the other language.
      • Search, article outlines, and previous/next navigation help you find specific material and continue along related themes.

      What makes the site distinctive

      • Long-form writing is at the centre of the site, with support for mathematical notation, figures, notes, and callouts—useful for subjects that require derivation, argument, and revision over time.
      • Photography has its own browsing space, while the music player can continue across pages, allowing writing, images, and sound to coexist as parts of the same publication.
      • The site works across desktop and mobile devices and provides light, dark, and system themes.
      • On supported browsers, the site can also be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Previously visited pages remain available offline; when opened online, the app checks for updates automatically and respects the device’s system orientation setting.
      • Selected articles include a feedback form for reporting questions, corrections, or additional references related to the text. This feature is supported by Waline. For other matters, please use email.
